Jan Belohlavek, MD, PhD, Prof. of Medicine, is the Deputy head of the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine at the General University Hospital in Prague, Czech Republic, board certified in Cardiology, Angiology, Critical care, and licenced in Invasive cardiology. He is an author or coauthor of more than 240 peer reviewed articles, his main clinical and research activities focus on refractory cardiac arrest, ECPR (extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation), ECMO reperfusion, cardiogenic shock and the use of mechanical circulatory devices.
He is a chair of the Czech Association of Acute Cardiology, from 2019 till 2022 was the Euro-ELSO President, currently is the member of the Scientific Committee of Euro-ELSO and member of the steering committee of the Czech Society of Cardiology, the Czech Society of Intensive Care Medicine and the Association of Heart Failure of the Czech Society of Cardiology.
